Samsung Omnia II

Samsung Omnia II

Phonearena has reviewed the AT&T-3G-useable Samsung Omnia II I8000.  The phone itself seems to be pretty good with the exception of the OS – Windows Mobile.  Here is their final conclusion on it:

“The Samsung Omnia II I8000 comes very close to nailing it, but there are a few things that really hold it back.  First and foremost is the lag, especially on the homescreen.  It is bad enough at times to ruin the entire user experience. Still, Samsung has done a great job of penetrating the Windows Mobile interface.  The menus are a joy to use, and they go much deeper than any Windows Mobile overhaul we’ve seen.  If they could take care of the front end as well as HTC has with TouchFLO 3D they might just have a true winner on their hands.  As of now however, they have a great phone that needs some software optimization badly.”

Samsung Solstice First Impression

Solstice

Solstice

The fellows at Brighthand have gotten their hands on a newly released Samsung Solstice and share their thoughts on the phone.  Here’s their final thoughts on it, they seem to like it:

“Time will tell, but my first impressions of the Samsung Solstice are extremely positive. If you want a fully featured mobile device with good entertainment features that can help keep you organized in a basic fashion without the complications of some models, stay tuned for the full review.

It compares quite favorably to my LG Dare, in a slimmer package with a more responsive touchscreen display.

The Samsung Solstice is available now for $100 with a 2-year contract and a $50 rebate. It can be found in AT&T retail stores and att.com.”

Samsung Omnia II (GT-i800) headed to the US

leave a comment »

The Samsung Omnia II has passed thru the FCC and is definately headed for the US.  The records show that there is support for AT&t’s 3G bands, which is great news as this smartphone packs quite a few features – 3.7in touchscreen, 7.2Mbps HSPA, plus 5MP camera with high res (720 x 480) video recording.  This news is counter to previous thoughts as it was not expected in the US as it didnt support any US bands.  Video after the jump Read the rest of this entry »
